I am Really Bad at posting.

But at least I have exciting news. I have decided to start Nest off a little early but on a much smaller scale. I will be taking orders for baked goods of many varieties which I will make in the kitchen of my apartment starting at the end of January. I am turning in my business license application on Tuesday afternoon and am really looking forward to turning a new leaf and having something to spend time on. A contact number as well as a menu should be posted by the end of the week!

New thing!

If you're curious as to what the giant NEST logo on the side of the blog is, well i'll tell you all about it. :)  It's the logo for my coffee shop opening in Fall 2011 in Seattle, WA. We're in the works of building an entire brand right now... and let me tell you, it's so much fun! The logo was made by my boyfriend, Trevor. If you're interested in the logo or other graphic design services from him, let me know! If you're interested in getting involved with Nest, let me know! We will be looking for baristas and bakers in the summer. We'll also be looking for artists, musicians, and authors. Anyway, that may be the only post for the day... Working on the nest menu.  Have a good Veteran's Day, coffee lovers!

Coffee Cups!

So Trevor and I have been making a Crate and Barrel gift registry preparing (hopefully!) for our purchase of a new house. I know you're thinking... Anna, I don't care, Tell me something about COFFEE... But surprise! It is about coffee! It's some adorable little mugs I just cannot live another day without. Here's the full size:
Crate and Barrel Coffee Cups!

and here's the espresso size for Trevor:

And not to whore out Crate and Barrel too much, but if you're looking for some adorable little festive mugs, or even a new coffee maker or espresso machine, they've got some decent deals on some quality products! You can view it all here:

...that is, if you couldn't figure out the nav bar by itself.

Corn coffee... WTF?

So I may be a little behind the curve but uh, what the EFF is corn coffee? It sounds pretty disgusting. I mean, I may be biased, since I only like my corn on the cob, but it all sounds a little odd to me. So far, doing online research, I haven't found a clear answer for exactly what it is. I've found corn grits coffee Corn Grits Coffee on E-How. and a couple of sites for people selling bags of corn coffee Corn Coffee Facebook. It kind of scares me... I mean, is there anything corn can't do? It can fuel our cars and fill our belly and now we can pour it into our to go mugs on the way to work?! Are we all going to turn into little corn cobbies?  D:  But I'm thinking the ONLY possible solution for my fear of corn coffee is to order myself a bag of corn coffee and go to town. Within the next week or so I will hopefully have reviews posted on Corn Coffee as well as yesterday's Three Avocados Uganda blend!  Wish me luck! And have a great Wednesday!

Fail

Apology
So I epic failed at food blogging. But here's promising to get better! Trevor has finally pushed me back in to being involved with the coffee shop, Nest, which will hopefully (cross your fingers!) be opening in Seattle next Fall. So here's my first post for this week... and it's all about coffee! Yummm!

Three Avocados

Three Avocados is the non profit love child of three travelers. During a trip to Uganda, they were invited to worship at a local village's church. During worship the offering basket was passed around to all the patrons, the traveler's were inspired as they watched an elderly widow donate all that she possessed, three avocados, to the church. The traveler's were inspired by the widow's beautiful gift and decided to create an even bigger gift of their own. So they began Three Avocados. Three Avocado's gives 100% of their profit to help give clean water to local Ugandan villages. They also make freakin' delicious coffee at an affordable price! It's supposedly a darker, spicier blend than most African coffees, and definitely a far cry from the Ethiopian coffees featured at most popular coffee shop these days. I urge you to check them out and try their coffee. Not just for the love of coffee, but for the love of life!

New Beginnings

I plan to start this blog to document my experiences with music, books, and food. This will also be used as a promotional web piece for my coffee shop which I plan on opening in Portland or Seattle in fall of 2011. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Anna. I am a 19 year old college senior majoring in English Literature. I cook, I write, I listen to music, and I spend time with my fantastic friends, family, and boyfriend. I hope to enrich your lives with the words in this blog. I will post at least one thing from each category (music, books, food) every week, but check back because I'm sure to get a little post happy. Anywho, happy blogging - er, happy reading! :)
